RWE Renewables Italia is among the top leaders in the energy sector operating 15 onshore wind farms with a capacity of approximately 440 megawatts and a strong development pipeline. The sites are located for example in the south of Italy, Sardinia, Sicily and Tuscany and meet the energy consumption of over 370.000 Italian families with renewable energy, saving the emission of about 500.000 tons of CO2 per year.  RWE has a team of over 100 people in Italy fully integrated along the value chain from origination of projects to engineering, construction, self-perform operations to commercialization. Italy represents one of the focus countries for RWE to expanding the production of renewable energies and contributing to the climate targets of the country.  

RWE Renewables is the newest subsidiary of the RWE Group, one of the world’s leading companies for renewable energies. The company has a capacity of about 10 gigawatts based on renewables including hydropower and biomass as well as an efficient  gas fleet and an internationally active energy trading business. RWE wants to expand its position by investing in onshore and offshore wind power, photovoltaics and storage technologies. By the end of 2022, RWE targets to invest €5 billion net in renewable energy and to grow its renewables portfolio to 13 gigawatts of net capacity. As a driver of the energy transition, the company is also focusing on innovative projects such as floating offshore and the production and use of hydrogen. The company employs around 20,000 people worldwide. RWE has a clear target: carbon neutrality by 2040.
